17th September 2010 Malaysia Hairdressers Association Gala

17 September 2010 MHA Gala - Essensuals Malaysia First Outstation Show...

The team reached KL 15th morning. And all of us felt great and energetic as we were looking forward to this show. Arriving KL; we took bus to KL Sentral (only RM 9 per pers on) and from there we walked to the monorail station to reach KL Bukit Bintang for only (RM2.10)..less than Pound 2.50 to reach city centre. phew.....

15th - We headed to Toni and Guy Academy as we were to meet Jamie for the key to David's apartment where we were staying during the 3 days stay in KL. Reaching KL around 2 pm, we kept our things in the apartment and headed out for some accessories for the gala night show. And at the same time; the team enjoying each other company and shopped a little bit. The best hang out time was the massage time...we went for body and foot massage near bukit bintang about 11 pm..the 5 of us felt so relaxed after all the hard work back in Kuching...so released a bit of the tension and stress.

16th - Everyone was looking forward for the gala show....because it was the first outstation show we did for Essensuals since we were just reaching 1 year old..We prepared models' hair from 12 noon till 6 pm; doing hair cut, color, hair perm and also choosing the right outfit for them.. We thanked Chennel for her genius choices of the models' wardrobe.

Perming session...

17th September - I took cab to KL Convention Centre in the morning to witness and judge the hair competition by Hair Malaysia in conjunction with Beauty 10 Expo. I was the judge for the Junior Categories and also the Fantasy Category. It was so cool to see energetic young stylists every year (this was my 3rd year) joining this competition to show their talents and fight for some recognition. I was having fun and at the same time inspired to see that the young people were doing what they loved. I also met some amazing people from the same trade such as Billy Lim ( President of MHA), Teh Siew Yong, Jason Wong, Albert Nico, Danny Tan, Florence Lum, Callie Goh and Andy Cheong. All the said names are great people who marked an important role in hairdressing in Malaysia. Chatting with them and sharing information inspired me a lot too...

The competition ended at around 5pm and I rushed to Crowne Mutiara Hotel to help prepare the models for the show..The rest of the team members were already there earlier to do the rehearsal and make up... Busy busy busy....
Eventhough busy I met Xavier Mah a cool friend whom I knew from Facebook..And it's exciting to have spotted him there and chat a bit and found out he was opening up his own company...AX Public Relation Company. It was a great news and I wish him all the best...

I also met Ms Winnie Loo of A Cut Above too.. She had just arrived KL from New York city after her backstage appearance at the New York Fashion Week. After landed KL airport she headed straight to the gala night. She is also the Deputy President Of Malaysia Hairdressing Association.. Nice to see her again...

The shows started at 7.30pm and finished around 11pm and just nice for us to take cab back before midnight. We had to carry so many things back to apartment but feeling happy and glad everything went smooth and hoped to be there again next year. Reaching apartment, we put down all of our things and went for late dinner. We reached David's apartment at 2 am and started to pack and prepare for our flight at 7am to fly back Kuching. We had to reach airport by 5am so our taxi came at 4am... so basically we slept only 2 hours haha... plus another 1 hour in the cab.

Reaching Kuching at 8.40am we felt very 'home sweet home'.. and fresh but tired. The team head straight to salon and worked as normal..We started to believe that we were ROBOTS!!! haha....but it was great experience and cool agenda for the team.

We hope to do it again real soon.To us hairdressing is our passion.

ESSENSUALS BLOGGERS' SUMMER COLLECTION SPECIALS 2010

Wow..Our Summer Collection - Bloggers' Special really a tough one but also a fun and exciting one. We managed to makeover 6 pretty and handsome well known bloggers from Kuching Sarawak, Borneo Island of East Malaysia.

Let me shared with you the process and the result of the looks of these lovely girls and macho boys....

We have Rose, Woon Yien, Anna, Sharon, Faruqi and Steven visiting us for a change....They are very friendly and have the total guts to change their old looks to brand new looks.. Below are some of the blogs addresses that you can have a read and enjoy; together with some of the photos that I have plucked from the blogs for you to have a peep...

http://rosewong.com/my-first-summer-hairstyles-by-essensuals-hairdressing-kuching/

Rose has a long rebonded hair..because she said it is easy to maintain and she had them almost forever...So I suggested bangs for her and a red base dark brown for her to lighten her face up a bit..

A half way look.....check her more in her blog...

http://yienyien.com/events/essensuals-summer-styles-collection/

Woon Yien came in with a long hair too..and get to maintain her length..but we gave more texture to the hair so it did not look one length...and suggested her strong straight bangs too..

Rose and Woon Yien were the only ones that have strong bangs...and they looked extremely gorgeous. Rose immediately turned out to be 5 years younger her age haha...While Woon Yien looking so sexy.

http://annna.net/page/3/

Sweet Anna came in with long wavy messy hair which she has not cut for quite awhile..She initially want to keep the length but I advice her to give it up for younger, sexier, mysterious look..wow...she agreed and I just chopped it off...without a blink of eyes...

Look at her...she is so looking great..and love it...!! And I am happy...

See her lucky tail...She loves it..I love it too..

Look at Anna with nice make up and hair and she is ready to rock the town... ..she is so sexy after the cut..and from long and wavy hard to maintain hair..into beautiful sexy young looking girl ..plus an easy to maintain hair; most importantly..

http://www.pynk-candy.com/?p=925

Sharon has been keeping long hair forever too...and so I suggested to her that it is time to change!! Well she is the most adventurous among all I must say..even though she was nervous that day..she managed to overcome it..and I sallute her and..and I welcomed her to the "Short Hair" gang like me haha....

The myth of "girls must keep long hair baru cantik" is kinda old myth already ...see all the short hair ladies like Agyness; can too be pretty, sexy, gorgeous....look at Sharon..she gorgeous with her super easy to maintain hair...

Gorgeous Agyness...Not everyone can carry short hair..but Sharon and I can haha.....GO GO GIRL POWER!!!

http://www.facebook.com/pages/I-Love-Kuching/137062106319993

Faruqi has a hectic life, event and studies....and he just finished his exam and came in like a mad man..ha ha just joking..he had really black and long hair (near shoulder) and I suggested he get some streak highlight so he looked fresh and macho...

Hmm...see his edgy and strong look...it's me beside him grinning and posing for a garden shot...actually in the salon...

End of the day, all the bloggers and the team were very happy to "give and accept" the new looks.....Most importantly I am happy to see changes after the makeover....and I love the challenge of make over...
Cheers...

P/S: http://steveillusion.com/ - For Steven's blog, we did not managed to get into the blog..perhaps there is some error..anyway have a try and check it out...

BEFORE AND AFTER BY ESSENSUALS KUCHING TEAM.

What is Hair? It is just a form of protein filament that grow on epidermis and in this context; scalp. However, this "just a form of protein filament" can decide whether we look great or "eewwwh'.......

Is it true that Hair affect our total look? The answer would be YES OF COURSE.

Our hair does play the vital role in enhancing the uniqueness that lies in everyone of us; and in other words, no human on this earth is UGLY. But, are we lazy to change our hairstyles? Or the answer to this question may not be that accurate as we are trying to believe; unless we are given accurate information and confident by our hairstylists to carry new hairstyles. OR WE ARE TOO COMFORTABLE WITH OUR OLD LOOKS THAT WE ARE AFRAID TO CHANGE? I would believe yes is the answer to this question.

A personal opinion from Essensuals' Director Jacqueline...Being a Hairstylist for more than a decade now and I often felt some clients are too scare to try new looks. From the information given, it is usually a disaster case after having agreed to have new hairstyles. Bad experiences caused FEAR and clients tend to be extra cautious about having new styles. Perhaps consultation are not properly carried out before a haircut. Or, clients wanted a fairy tale haircuts that are not practical or hairstylist failed to give explanation before and after the haircut.
CONSULTATION is a must before a haircut is performed. So if you got to a new salon for a haircut, ensure yourself getting consultation before a hair cut. If the hairstylist wanted to start cutting your hair without at least a 5 min consultation, you have the right to just leave the salon as no proper consultation will cause miscommunication and BAD HAIR DAY. End of the day 'FEAR' is the main reason to change.

Let's share some real life "BEFORE AND AFTER" Hair Cut Session with Essensuals Kuching Team recently. Meeting our expectation, the live models, Tiffany, Mandy and Ghazali were indeed very happy with their new looks; moderate to drastic changes.

BUSY AT WORKS

Stylist Roger with model Mandy

Left to Right; Director Jacqueline, Stylist Roger and Stylist Chien finishing their live
model hair cuts with many others standing and watching seriously.

Many people may know how to cut this hairstyle with a Clipper, can you do without and just using a pair of
good scissors? Director Jacqueline is handling live model Ghazali with care ..not an easy task but the
satisfaction count.

FIRST LOOK: A modern 60s bob using volumising and shine products creates this sexy, upbeat finish. Tip: An ideal style for those with a stronger jawline.

'All about You' 2010 Essensuals Collection.

Before haircut; Tiffany dislike the thinness of her current hair condition which is usually hard to maintain and often she tied it up.

Lovely After the Haircut and perfect with volume.

SECOND LOOK: Make use of the natural texture and movement with this shorter yet feminine, textured cut. Tip: This style accentuates your cheekbones.

Before the haircut, Mandy looks tired and her hair is really dried
and damaged. So we suggested her to be brave and take up a new short look.

WOW! Young looks and looks great...Who would have believe Mandy is
married with 2 kids?

THIRD LOOK: Clean, sharp and alluring, this crop never goes out of style.
Tip: Have your Essensuals stylist assess your head shape before trying this look.

Before the haircut, Ghazali clueless about what suits him. We found out that he had a scalp
problem and easily get irritated when the weather is hot. So we suggest him the short hair.

After the haircut, Ghazali looked more man and happy to keep it short for
more healthy scalp.

From the above photos, we saw the before and after look of a person. And whether the haircut suits the person or not, very much depending on the experience of the stylist and their capability of mind visualising.
Never forget initial consultation before a haircut is very important to create mutual understanding between the clients and the hairstylist.
